Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SB 842 -- LICENSURE OF LODGING ESTABLISHMENTS

SPONSOR:  Childers (Wood)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Professional Registration and Licensing by a vote of 14 to 0.

This bill changes the expiration date of lodging establishment
licenses from May 31 to September 30.

The bill contains an emergency clause.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2005, FY 2006, and
FY 2007.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that health inspections take place
after the licenses are issued.  The bill will allow the
inspections to be completed prior to the licensure.

Testifying for the bill were Senator Childers; and Department of
Health and Senior Services.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
